How can I recover the back of a Master Lock combonation lock? - recover master lock combination with serial number

I visited a combination lock to see how it works, but now I want to reuse. I really have to remove the outer metal plate and slid back. This study showed a thick inner shell to the current impasse. There is a hole where you used to see the characters and son to open the lock very easily, I might add. My question is, how do I get something so that I can reuse? I have tried hot glue and stuff, but fall very easily. Other ideas?
